Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers. If your question is not here, ask us.

Booking and prices

Will I be asked to pay for extra tests on the day?

No test is added without your written consent. If a doctor recommends something extra on the day, you see the reason and the price first and decide whether to go ahead.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Yes. The change and cancellation rules for your booking are written on your quote before you confirm. See our Cancellation & Refunds page for the general policy.

How do I book?

Send us the short quote form or a message. A coordinator replies with questions and a written plan and quote; nothing is booked until you confirm.

How much does it cost?

You receive a written, all-in quote for your plan before you book. We are confirming standard prices with each facility and will publish them on each service page as soon as they are final.

Language and support

Do you speak English or Cantonese?

We reply to enquiries in English and Chinese. Language support on the day depends on the facility and date, so we confirm it in writing with your quote.

Payment and insurance

Can I use my international health insurance?

Possibly. Direct billing depends on your insurer, plan, facility and service, so we check it case by case. Send us your insurer's name; until direct billing is confirmed, plan to pay and claim reimbursement.

How do I pay?

You pay the facility according to your written quote. Accepted methods — such as international cards, Alipay or WeChat Pay linked to a foreign card, or cash — are confirmed in your quote.

Travel and entry

How do I get to the clinic from Hong Kong or the airport?

Your coordinator sends directions from your crossing point or airport with your booking. We are measuring travel times from Futian Port, Lok Ma Chau, Shenzhen Bay Port and Bao'an Airport and will publish them on the Locations page.

I live in Hong Kong. What do I need to cross the border?

Chinese citizens resident in Hong Kong use their Mainland Travel Permit (Home Return Permit). Other Hong Kong residents should check the entry rules for their passport. Bring the same document to register at the facility.

Do I need a visa to come to China for a checkup?

It depends on your passport. China has expanded visa-free entry for many countries, but the rules change, so check the National Immigration Administration and your nearest Chinese embassy. We can confirm your appointment in writing for your travel plans.

Preparation and results

Why does a doctor review my request before MRI, CT or endoscopy?

To make sure the test is suitable and safe for you and that you prepare correctly. The review is about planning your visit; it is not a remote diagnosis.

Do I need someone with me for a sedated endoscopy?

Often yes — after sedation you may need an adult to accompany you home. We confirm the rule for your booking in writing before you confirm.

What happens after I get my report?

A doctor explains your results, and your coordinator follows up with reminders and helps arrange any next steps, whether with us or with your own doctor at home.

Can I take my MRI or CT images home?

We confirm how you receive your images (for example on disc or digitally) with your quote, so you can share them with your own doctor.

What language is the report in?

We are confirming which reports are available in English or Traditional Chinese for each service. Your quote states the report language before you book, and a doctor explains the results to you either way.

When will I get my results?

It depends on the tests. Your quote lists when each result is expected and how it is delivered; some results are ready the same day and others, such as biopsies, take longer.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Can I combine a checkup and TCM on the same trip?

Yes, on the same day or on different days. Tell us both in your request and we quote them together.

Do I have to buy herbs?

No. Herbal medicine or other products are optional, and you see the price before you decide.

What happens at a TCM consultation?

A TCM practitioner asks about your health and lifestyle and examines you in person, typically including your pulse and tongue, then gives you written advice. Your coordinator can help explain anything unclear.

What we do not do

Can you help in an emergency?

No. We do not provide emergency care. In mainland China call 120; in Hong Kong call 999.

Can a doctor diagnose me online before I come?

No. We do not provide remote diagnosis or online prescriptions. A doctor may review information you choose to share to plan your visit, but diagnosis happens in person.

Do you arrange surgery or complex treatment?

Not at this stage. We focus on checkups, imaging, endoscopy, specialist consultations and TCM. If a test finds something that needs treatment, we help you plan the next step.

Are you an agency?

No. Yunshan Medical is the international patient service of Yunshan Medical Group, a Shenzhen healthcare group founded in 2015. Your care is delivered within the group and its TCM clinic.

Privacy

What happens to the information I send?

We use it only to reply to your request and arrange your care, keep it access-controlled, and never sell it. Please do not send detailed medical records through the form. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
